The upcoming Majestic Johor Festival 2024 is a highly anticipated five-day event that is set to captivate visitors with its fresh lineup of attractions. Among the festival's highlights is an exhibition of classic and antique cars that belong to the Johor royal family, which is expected to draw over 600,000 visitors. The festival will be held from August 28 to September 1 at Puteri Harbour, and it promises to offer a wide range of cultural, exhibitions, and entertainment that will appeal to visitors of all ages and interests. One of the festival's main attractions is the first-time exhibition of 20 of the sultan of Johor's classic cars, which is sure to delight car enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Additionally, the festival will feature a parade that showcases cultural performances, ethnic arts displays, and marching bands, as well as a variety of other activities, such as  Johor mascot performances, Barongan displays, motorcade shows, and traditional dances like the Gendang Bangsa Johor, lion dances, and dragon dances. With 26 cultural groups and school marching bands participating in the festival, visitors can expect a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Johor. The festival is a key event in the state's tourism calendar, and it is expected to draw visitors from across the country and internationally, including Singapore and Indonesia. The festival's success was recognized in 2022 with the 'Gold Award Attractive State Tourism Event' at the Malaysian Tourism Awards, and it is the state government's initiative to boost tourism while contributing to the local economy through cultural, artistic, and tourism-related activities. Visitors can also enjoy special tourism packages, discounts, and free souvenirs at the Tourism Johor booths, and in conjunction with the National Day on August 31, a firework display will be held on Merdeka eve.

ISREC Adventure and the Johor State Forestry Department (JPNJ) are collaborating to organize the JOHOR MERDEKA HIKE 2024 (JMH 2024), which is the third annual program for hikers in the State of Johor. The event is scheduled to take place on August 31, 2024, in commemoration of the 67th Malaysian Independence Day. The JOHOR MERDEKA HIKE 2024 will cover all the mountains located in the Johor State Permanent Forest Reserve, and it is aimed at promoting hiking as a healthy and enjoyable activity while also raising awareness about the importance of preserving the natural environment. Registration has closed on August 2, 2024

Johor Zoo

Johor Zoo, which holds the distinction of being the oldest zoo in Malaysia, is all set to reopen its doors to the public on August 31, after being closed a period of three years. The reopening ceremony are held on August 28, three days before the official opening, and be officiated by Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. The state government has approved a new ticket price for locals, which is RM10 for adults and RM5 for children, while foreigners will be charged RM30, marking a significant increase from the previous ticket prices of RM2 for adults and RM1 for children. To commemorate the reopening of the zoo, the state government has announced a 50% discount on tickets for Malaysians for a month, starting from August 31. The zoo has undergone extensive upgrading works and now boasts more than 275 animals, including tigers and elephants.

On August 28, 2024, Tunku Ismail, the Regent of Johor, along with Che' Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor and their children, visited the Johor Zoo before its public opening on August 31.

To celebrate its reopening, the Johor Zoo will be offering a special discount for one month. It is offering a 50% discount for all Malaysian adults and free entry for all Malaysian children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities (OKU) from 31 August to 30 September.

After the promotion, the usual Johor Zoo ticket prices will be:

  • RM10 for Malaysian adults

  • RM5 for children (ages 5 and up) and senior citizens (ages 60 and up)

  • RM30 for foreigners

  • Free for children (ages 5 and below) and OKU card holders
